Taking Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) as the background, this thesis studied multi-format GIS data sharing technology, and applied the research achievement in the development of ECDIS successfully.Geographical information system is a great deal of disciplines, such as computer science, geography, remote sensing, surveying and draw, urban planning, land management, urban construction, etc, merged edge technology. But because the data target that GIS deals with is space targets, there are very strong space-time characteristics, the means to obtain data is complicated and various, it forms the initial data of many kinds of forms. In addition GIS for a very long time in regarding concrete project as the isolated state of development of center. A lot of GIS software has one' s own data formats. This makes data sharing of GIS become a particularly outstanding question. Because the figure data format of the geographical information system is different, it brings great inconvenience to information sharing. It is the important problem needing solving in GIS' s application system development in recent years to solve and integrate in the data source of the multi-format.This thesis is directed against the above question, especially did much research to electronic chart system data sharing. First of all, this thesis has studied three kinds of commonly most used geographical information system formats: ShapeFile, MIF and S57. These three kinds of formats are international standards. There are a lot of geographical information system data to already made into these formats now. firstly we should realize the operation of writing and reading of these kinds of formats. Secondly, this thesis has studied the way of sharing, itthe way of sharing, it has adopted the data formats transition mode which is used extensively. It has proposed regarding OpenGIS data model as the frame structure of the software, realized the data sharing technology through multi-format transition. At last, this thesis studied the 00 programming technology. It realizes the system by applying C++ programming technology and using the design mode.
