Pierre Bourdieu (1930-2002)was a famous contemporary thinker, sociologist and culture theory critic .The media culture study of Pierre Bourdieu is mainly embodied in his book About TV which was published in 1996.Regarding this book as research object, this thesis aims to analyse Bourdieu's unique understanding and strategic point to media culture which is mainly led by TV .This thesis is composed of four parts, first, it traces Bourdieu's academic resume and era background he lived, discusses his life trajectory and the genesis of his academic habitus. Secondly, proceeding with several key concepts in his works , it analyses the inherent relationship of Bourdieu's media culture study and his macro-thought .Then it goes on discussing Bourdieu's "news field " with discourse hegemony, the evil spirit shadow of TV("symbolic violence" and "commerce logic"),and the medialization of intellectual, what of the book About TV mentioned, and carrying on the criticizing appraisal of his media culture study. Summing up the above analysis, the last part points out Pierre Bourdieu's important realistic significance to China's media cultural construction. From it we could draw a conclusion that though Bourdieu's media culture study close to marginalization, he had sent out his own brave sound. By the sharp visual dimension of sociologist, Pierre Bourdieu reminded us to guard economic power's influence on news field, the danger brought to democracy because of commerce logic's infiltration, etc. Which deserves us learning and thinking conscientiously.
