The traditional coal transfer system of power plant is a half-automation system based on relay connect and manual work. As the environment of the coal transfer system is so execrable, it not only does harms to the worker's health, but also has problems like belt slide, belt avulsion, and jam of the coal-falling pipe and so on for its large scope. This sharply decreases the productive efficiency of the power plant. Along with the development in scale, the coal requirement of power plants increases greatly. And the traditional coal transfer system can't meet the needs of these power plants any more.This paper proposed a coal transfer system after careful consideration on the function and run reliability. It involves two subways, which consist of multiple segments and backup for each other. This can ensure the system's reliability on configuration. Considering the large scope and multi work mode, this paper put forward an implemental scheme of coal transfer control system based on AB's PLC and industrial control network. The scheme reduces the workload of the exploitation and the maintenance. It makes future promotion feasible.The control technology of coal transfer system is a process control in automation. And it is a large-delay object. This paper describe the control system and control technology relevant to process control system, such as operation direct control system, direct digital control system, supervise computer control system and distributed control system, etc. A series of control theories, such as auto-adaptive control, fuzzy control, predictive control and human-simulated intelligence control, were introduced. Base on above mentioned advance control theories and technology, analyses and research on coal transfer system are carried out. And design the control scheme of coal transfer system.In order to implement the optimal control of the coal transfer system, this paper developed its feasible control characteristic and model. After sufficient consideration of the failure factors and the reliability factors and combining with related theory and technology, the paper proposed a coal transfer control system for the control of middle-little belt transmission, which is based on artificial intelligence of network (or control bus). The control law of the system has also been designed and proved to be practical by MATLAB simulating experiment.Using object-oriented idea and adopting structured design, the mode that applies subprogram in PLC not only facilitates the implement of manifold run-mode, but also enhances the program's maintainability and reliability. The coal transfer system running in laboratory demonstrates the correctness and practicability of the system.
