Mobile agent is a young distributed computing technology and expected to take the place of CORBA, EJB and DCOM. Mobile agent is a hybrid of mobile agent technology and distributed computing technology. It is being deployed into network applications, wired or wireless, to solve the problems that old technology can not solve.This paper do some research in theory, simulation and programming. The result of research shows that it is excellent and workable to deploy mobile agent into RSVP and MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc Network). This paper is organized as follows:1. This paper provides a solution to resource reservation based on mobile agent. The RSVP protocol that handles the exchange of control messages simply ignores non-RSVP routers. There is no end-to-end guarantee. The solution uses path_agent and tunnel_agent to monitor tunnel properties, interacting with the RSVP routers for assuring the QoS to the users.2. In this paper, author proposes a mobile agent based location routing protocol(MALR).Mobile Ad hoc network(MANET) is a network consisting of a set of mobile hosts without the assistance of base stations. The traditional routing protocols are not suitable for MANET. In MALR, router agent is a mobile agent that travers the network collecting and distributing location information on the mobile nodes. The core routing algorithm, OFTOR(Origin Find and Trip Optimize Routing), refers to routing algorithm of LAR and DSR. This paper compares MALR to DSR via simulations, and illustrates that MALR offers higher accuracy and lower overhead.3. At last I develop a distributed information system using IBM Aglets Software Development Kit (ASDK) which is a popular platform for programming mobile agent. This system accesses to the database through JDBC. The aglet in this system shares the latest information among all the nodes in network. The excellent performance of this system shows that mobile agent can do a good job in RSVP and MALR.
