| This article essentially has introduced that how to apply Rational Unified Process-RUP to the practical software projects. At the beginning of this article, the history of RUP is briefly introduced. And then the basal viewpoints and theory is shown and explained hi some degree. That is RUP is use cases-driven, architecture-central, iterative and incremental. After that, the author exposures the benefits of adopting RUP during the course of software project development nowadays hi several directions totally on two aspects which are developing and managing.The main part of this article has described the concepts, principles, rules and means of RUP hi detail, which are applied to the practice. At first, the 2-dimension developing model of RUP is shown. The second, it's the turn for the process's cutting out concepts and theory, then the examples for them. After that the author show the useful knowledge that are used during the development of software projects such as Business Modeling, Requirement, Analysis and Design, Testing, Deployment, etc. Under the guide of the theory above, this article has proved that RUP has its practical value. By listing some of the artifacts of MIS for books, the author point out how to apply the abstract process approach to the practice, how to make our work more efficient, how to improve the quality and lower down the risk as much as possible. This article has also explained that what the relation among RUP, UML, JAVA, especially between RUP and UML. So that it could get rid of confusion of conception and function in most software developers' mind. This would help them to use RUP and UML hi a proper way.In addition, the relation between RUP and Project Management has been discussed. So a valuable mean on how to manage the project and organize efficiently is put forward. All in one, it is opened out that the Software Engineering Pattern-RUP, UML, tools, platform and management. This is the most significative to build software projects rapidly and efficiently.
