Objective: To develop Electronic Inpatient Satisfaction Questionnaire (E-IPSQ) supplied to touching screen and its corresponding statistical inquiry software based on network for meeting the rapid increase of hospital information content, making full use of information resource, improving the defects of low efficiency, high mistake rate, difficulty on data checking and tedious procedure, reaching the level of automatization, standardization, institutionalization and reutilization, and having the survey on patient satisfaction more timely and accurately.Subjects: The two hundred and sixty six inpatients from 20 different departments of a top general hospital of Zhang Jiakou were surveyed by E-IPSQ through touching screen.Methods: The domains and items of E-IPSQ were designed based on the paper questionnaire named ((Inpatient Satisfaction Questionnaire?. The E-IPSQ was used by inpatients through touching screen at any time to evaluate the medical care quality. The management terminal of network automatically queried and reported the evaluation result of patient satisfaction.Statistic analysis was conducted by the SPSS 12.0 software. The internal consistency Cronbach's alpha was applied as a measure of reliability. The validity was assessed by content validity and construct validity with factor analysis, the correlation of the item with its own domain as well as with otherdomains, and demographic analysis.Result: For the E-IPSQ, response rate of item was 98.72%, valid rate of questionnaires were 98.1%, and internal consistency reliability coefficient was 0.9474. The content validity and construct validity were supported by what factor loading and the structure in factor analysis went well with the structure of the questionnaire. The convergent validity and discriminate validity were strongly supported by what the correlations within the factors were stronger than that between the factors.The data from the touching screen were collected automatically and timely. The system of checking, collecting and calculating data from patient satisfaction evaluation was reliable. The software of inpatient satisfaction statistics inquiry based on network was useful and accuracy and could meet demands at different levels of managements.Conclusion: The design of E-IPSQ at the touching screen terminal was reasonable, and its reliability and validity was satisfied. In practice, the interface of E-IPSQ was friendly and could be applied easily by patients with different background. As to the management terminal, the function of the E-IPSQ was practical and could meet the management demand. Compared with other patient satisfaction, the E-IPSQ based on the network pattern had characteristics of quick respond, huge information, accuracy in data collection, and high reliable.
