| With development of21Century, Internet comes into people's life. At the same time, variety of related electronic terminal devices become indispensible tools in people's life. Also interface design, especially graphic user interface design (GUI), is one of hottest topics in the visual design field. To visual designers, the Internet as the carrier of graphic user interface not only could brings a big convenience to web users but is also an inheritance and a new challenge of traditional design.How to convey the information users needed, construct a good visual environment in order to improve user's interaction experience through graphic, text, image and audio in graphic interface design is the most critical problem to designers. Through the metaphor design to achieve the concept of abstract expression and function and ambience of the building is the commonly used method in current graphical user interface design.This paper reviews the graphical user interface and metaphors related literature, the use of cognitive theory and mental models, from the designer, user and product point of view of metaphor use three specifications, the user can identify the extent and in the product in the specific application and expression.Having reviewed some graphical user interface and metaphor related literatures, this paper will analyze metaphor uses, user's identity level and product's specific application by using of cognitive theory and mental models from the designers, users and products.Through case studies, I divided the metaphor into three categories in the use of graphical user interface which are visual metaphor.movement metaphor and sound metaphor.Also, I will discuss its Effect and uses.Through analysis, the paper argues that by setting an appropriate metaphor can effectively achieve the transmission of information-related functions; and through the same scene with the reality of metaphor to meet the emotional needs of users and can increase the interaction between users and interface behavior. |
