The Research And Implementation Of System Software On HDTV STB

With the digitalization of modern broadcast, DTV (Digital Television) industry is gaining more and more attention. Many countries according to their own conditions have setup transition solutions and industry objects. DTV set top box is an important product driving DTV industry during current ATV and DTV coexistence period.This dissertation aims at the development of HDTV (High Definition TV) Set-Top Box with conditional access (CA) and personal video recorder (PVR) function. It studies system software and implements the following modules of HDTV STB software: front-end control, transport stream demultiplexing, program management, video decoding and smart card interface. Front-end control module provides a generic interface to a Front End decoder for receiving a digital transport stream via cable services. It performs QAM demodulation and channel decoding. Demultiplexing module implements the standard multiple input DVB streams descrambling and demultiplexing requirements and other applications for example PSI section collection and analysis. Program management module builds an integrated program database and performs all program operations and database update. Extracting, parsing, storing of the program information are involved in the module.m Video decoding module can decode the standard DVB/ATSC/Direct TV video stream. It can concurrently decode up to 5 MPEG MP@ML video streams or 2 MP@HL video streams. Smart card interface module implements communication between MPU with smart card, which provides necessity for CA on HDTV STB. Besides, this dissertation makes a brief introduction to the system platform, ST20 software debugging environment and STMicroelectronics's STLite/OS20 real time operating system.Through debugging and test, all software modules are proved to be applicable.
