With the rapid development of modern automation manufacture, it is necessaryto develop new inspection technology to ensure the quality of the products. Manytraditional measuring methods are not satisfied with modern industrial processes anymore. However, visual inspection based on computer vision gives us a solution.Visual inspection equipments can offer non-contact, high-precision, automatic, and100-percent-on-line measurements, so now it has been used not only in the laboratorybut also in monitoring and measuring of industrial productions. Today more and morequick rhythm of manufacture brings much higher demand on the measuring velocity. In the paper, the idea of high-speed image processing system is presented, which isbased on the FPGA technology. It aims to improve the inspecting velocity of thevision inspection system and make it to fulfill 100% real time on-line inspection. This paper focuses on the three aspects below and achieves some resultsThe study on the hardware architecture design of the high-speed imageprocessing system By analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of several methods ofthe high-speed image processing, the system based on FPGA is broughtforward. And the hardware design has been finished. The study on transmission using USB Using the USB interface, transmission between the high-speed image processingsystem and PC is fulfilled. It also proves the hardware design is correct. The study on low-level image processing in FPGA On the basis of analyzing the main ways of image processing and the resource ofFPGA, some real-time low-level hardware image processing algorithm such asMedian Filter in VHDL is present.
