With the rapid development of national economy, many traditional industries require reconstructing. There will be more and more Laser Jobshops in the industrialized cities. Statistically, about five hundred sets of Numerical Control Laser Cutters will be required in China during the tenth five-year plan period. Besides the universal CO2 laser cutters, we also need numerical control laser cutters, such as high-speed and high-precision style, large-scale style for cutting thick iron plate, three-dimensional style and laser cutter robot. The application of laser is developed widely with its four characteristics: high intensity, directionality, monochromaticity and coherence.In the first section of this paper laser is imported as a kind of scan energy which can realize to cut and process. The second section deeply expatiates the principle of computer system interface and the motion controller provide three signals: pulse signal, dir pulse and control signal. The third section introduces the selected step motors, the subdividing technologies of actuator and the corresponding circuits.This paper introduces the process how to realize the cutting system in detail. Firstly, compile a target figure into a scan program in Visual C++. Then output the control code to the port of cutting system. With the support of peripheral circuit, the step motors realize to cut on a two-dimensional plane by the control of program. It is an innovation to realize path optimize for scan cutting of complicated figures by the compounding of compiling some scan programs of fundamental graphics. Moreover this paper introduces the main characteristics of laser, the technique parameters of laser and the influence of laser cutting quality.This cutting system can be widely used in the fields of laser processing, laser welding, laser marking and laser engraving, etc. It also applies for three-dimensional and five-dimensional systems.
