With the development of Semiconductor Industry, LED printing techniques becomes widely used. As the.main executing module of LED printers, motion controller is responsible for receiving and interpreting commands from the main controller, detecting signals of sensor, controlling the motion of all parts, in order to make the printer printing orderly.The working principle and system structure of LED printer are analyzed. Based on this, the electrical design scheme of it is proposed. According to the general design scheme and mechanical structures of LED printers, the motion controller is designed. Then, the implementation of software and hardware is discussed.Microcontrollers and chips of FPGA are adopted as the kernel of motion controller. The design of each hardware modules is described in detail. IP-core design of step motor controlling modules on FPGA is realized with analyses of method for speeding up controls of two-phase step motor.Flows of control on main procedures of motion controller and each functional procedures are analyzed in software design, combined with the detecting of sensors, step motors and relays of paper feeding channels, paper feeding through paper box and signal channel is also realized. United operation of paper feeding mechanism is also made sequentially.Finally, the test scheme to testing the precision of motor-driving controller module is made, and concludes with a indication that this designed motor-driving controller module meets the precision requirement of motor controller.
