Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Network (SAN) is the current mainstream technology, NAS is based on Ethernet technology, using TCP / IP protocol stack, and it is file_level data sharing. SAN is based on Fibre Channel technology, using Fibre Channel Protocol and it is block_level data sharing. In some airbone device, they needs file_level data sharing service based on Fibre Channel, and NAS and SAN are not well to meet the demand,so Fibre Channel-based file-level data sharing design FC-NAS was designed to meet this demand.Describes the Fibre Channel protocol related technologies, analysis the relevant content of the Fibre Channel FC-2 layer frames, propose FC-NAS, and based on detailed analysis of the client and server-side implementation analysis the important functions. to achieve synergistic solutions giventhe specific FC-NAS hardware and software, and use of existing hardware environment to realize this design. At the same time do the relevant experimental results compared to internet-based file_level data sharing desing named NFS .FC-NAS is running on x86-based hardware for the PC, the operating system is VxWorks .For the target PC, complete development of relevant content of the corresponding version of VxWorks. Fibre Channel adapters is developed based on xlinx ML505, and the hardware device driver must be developed to make the device send and receive data frame. FC-NAS comply the NFS protocol ,and divided into client and server, the client and server give the request to FC-NAS,then FC-NAS will package the data into FC frame and using the Fibre Channel transfer the data frame. when FC-NAS running, the client can read and write the server's files as local files.
