Rapid Reverse Engineering for free-form surface is an important branch of mechanical designed manufacturing .It consists of rapid measurement, geometric reconstruction and rapid prototyping, the rapid measurement is a key technique ,it also influence the other two sections.An integrated measurement platform is set up, assuming light-cut measuring theory based on computer vision, including hardware and software parts design. The main task of this paper concentrates on such parts as calibration of measurement sensor, high speed and accuracy image collection and processing, data fusion of different angle of view, visualization of measuring results.to accomplish sensor calibration, a pinhole model of the camera is employed and an equation of a light plane is setup. Parameters such as the M array of the pinhole model and the normal vector of the light plane arc acquired through experiment. In image processing, we adopt the template-changing parallel thinning method to improve processing speed and accuracy. Based on Screw theory, the transformation array between two coordination systems is calculated to deal with the data fusion. And on VC++ platform, utilizing OpenGL 3-D graphic library, the 3-D displaying module is written to visualize measuring result. Under this software module, the object can be rotated at any angle, zoomed at any scale, and translated at any direction.Analysis on the result data shows hat the measurement system achieves a rather high speed and accuracy with strong stability, reaches the expected target. It will promote the development of 3-D measurement in our country with certain technical and practical significance.
