The dissertation deals with the reverse engineering problem for free-form surface measurement and manufacturing with the aid of structure light measurement and CAD techniques. The main content include free-form surface reconstruction, profile error with random distribution, CAD model?showing and exportation in standard form. The object of this paper is trying to develop software on Reverse Engineering Based on Structure light measurement for Free-Form Surface. This paper has great significance on geometric modeling of product, engineering drawings? automatically making, and CAD/CAM抯 integration. This paper also establishes foundation for RPM software system抯 further study. In this paper, the following aspects are studied. Cubic rational B-spline curve is adopted to reconstruct free-form surface. Cubic rational B-spline curve is an ideal curve for reconstruction. Because it is one of NURBS curve. And in STEP standard ,the international standard in exchanging of product抯 data, NURBS is the only way to describe free-form curve and surface. Using Cubic rational B-spline to reconstruct free-form surface is good to the standardizing of surface model. The exporting of the surface model in standard form is completed with DXF standard form. Experiment research is carried out ,which proves the correction and application scope of this software.
