With the growth of high-speed applications such as VOD, Digital TV, HDTV, remote LAN-to-LAN connection, etc., the demand of high broadband access is huge. The xDSL technology and applications have been deployed as an effective broadband access method for the latest 10 years. However, the current xDSL technology and products have many limitations. Though many backbones have been built in the past 5 years, they have not been fully utilized for the access networks are not complete. The access networs are becoming the last bottleneck of the whole communications network. To provide more service areas and high speed for broadband access becomes the biggest challenge of broadband communications. As a breakthrough technology, Phase-Offset Overlapped Wave (POOW) coding technology is completely different from all existing coding technologies such as PAM, QAM, DMT, etc. Coming with its great rate and reach performance, POOW provides a powerful and proper only logical approach to resolve the problem. We have designed and simulated the communication system based on POOW with SIMULINK in MATLAB. The experiment results indicate both transmission distance and rate are satisfied. In addition, the simulation is a convenient intuitionistic tool for other performance' s testing.Due to POOW is fire-new modulating method proposed by us, whose transmission rate outperforms DMT greatly. Timing jitter affects system performance more and more seriously with higher transmission rate. So in this article we reviewed the difference between POOW and DMT in timing jitter. We prove that POOW has better resistance to timing jitter than DMT based on the theory analysis and the experiment results.
