The Design Of MLB/AHB Bus Bridge

Integrated circuit design has entered into the era of System on Chip (SoC), the bus interconnect architecture of System on Board have also developed into a kind of hierarchy architecture-On Chip Bus (OCB). Different IPs are integrated on different types of OCB, Bus bridge device can realize bus communication between two different levels of OCB.There are so many kinds of OCB, the designed IP based on different OCB can't be replaced by each other, so we can design a bus bridge device to resolve the problem, this bus bridge device convert a kind of OCB protocol to another.The work of this thesis is to complete the RTL design and verification of MLB/AHB bus bridge after studying and analyzing the MLB protocol and AHB protocol. The completed works include as the following.1. Study of the MLB protocol and the AHB protocol;2. The design of MLB/AHB bridge architecture;3. The design of each functional module, including the bridge selected module, MLB slave state machine, buffer, AHB master state machine, arbiter.4. The RTL level simulation of the MLB/AHB bridge using Bus Function Model (BFM).The research and practice of this thesis has completed the design of a bus bridge module between different on chip system bus, we also accumulated experiences to study the bus interconnect technology from the thesis.
