With the rapidly development of semiconductor process technology, SoC design has become a predominant paradigm in IC design industry today. The reuse-based IP design methodology is a valid way to improve the productivity of SoC design. It would simplify the process of Soc design. System designers hope to integrate their own IP or the third party IP into SoC. So the assessment and choice of high quality IP play the key role of SoC design.This dissertation emphasized on the research of IP qualification and the method to assess IP quality, combined with reuse-based IP design methodology. After defining IP quality, a quality metric model for IP designing is proposed in the paper. In the engineering project, the author developed an IP Qualification Platform based on UNIX operation system with perl language. Then according to the architecture and process of IP qualification, qualified IIC soft IP on this qualification platform. As IP reuse is the greatest character of IP characters, and it is the only one character by which IP is easily justified from another IC blocks, the paper deep researched the assessment of IP reuse at the end.
