On analyzing the network video surveillance system, especially the characteristic of changing from an analog system to a network digital system, this paper presents the resolving project of compressing static images with digital signal processing chip and transferring them over network. This paper is composed of four chapters. The first chapter is the introduction. It introduces the Network Digital Video Surveillance System briefly and presents the concept of DSP. The second chapter introduces the system chart and introduces the main chips used in the system design. The first part of the third chapter analyses the system in detail, including the memory configuration and the mapping in DSP, the HPI design in communication between the DSP and the processor with ARM core, the backing control unit, i.e. And it presents the interface circuits of every segments: the startup process of DSP and the writing of boot table. The second part introduces the CCS development environment and the making of executable files in COFF format. The fourth chapter is the arithmetic part and it deals with the JPEG arithmetic in detail including the structure of the coding system and the steps of coding. It analyses the Loeffler fast arithmetic and the data in operation process.
