3D Information Publishing In CSCW

With the development of international cooperation of the design activity, a company's divisions and partners are often located around the world. This makes it difficult for the designer to share information in the process of design. The 3D model is an important media for communication between the designers. Because some design information is lost using VRML to publish the 3D graphics, This thesis proposes a method, in which VRML and XML are used together to publish the 3D graphics. Three aspects are studied, as followed: Dynamically loading the 3D graphics in the IE, so the graphics can be collaboratively browsed. Using XML to present the design information in the process of CSCW. The task is decomposed to several sub-tasks. The design information of different sources is integrated by binding the sub-task with it's schema.Finally, an prototype system of web-based CSCW is given.
