The Techniques, which use the computers and network to monitoring the objects everywhere, is called Distributed Monitoring Techniques. After studying and analyzing the current corelative technical, the paper put forward a water level monitoring system that based on Ethernet and Windows DMA.The main works can now be summarized as follows:(1) The paper firstly dissertated the background of field bus. Then, several influential of them have been introduced and the main disadvantages about the disunity of their standard and the low speed are discussed . At last, the necessary and feasibility of Ethernet have been put forward based on deeply analyzing the development and actuality of Ethernet.(2) The design of smart nodes hold great importance in water level monitoring system. After the characteristics and development of the sensor dissertated, this paper suggested to use TCP/IP based smart sensors, which made the spot sensors to be absolute nodes and made it easier to extend and vindicate the system.(3) The software is a important part of water level monitoring system. In this paper, I dissertated the history of distributed component techniques, the COM/DOOM specification, especially Windows DMA and the structure and new service of COM+. Then I suggested using COM+ to design advanced software.(4) The paper dissertated the working theory and course of monitoring system. Thereare three parts, which include designing monitoring net, smart nodes anddistributed system software.(5) Then the paper put forward a suit of water level monitoring system in which theEthernet being industry net and the TCP/IP based smart sensors being monitoringnodes. The structure of the net was mainly dissertated. Meanwhile, the whole systemsoftware based on COM+ has been written.[6]Finally, on the basis of the sumnarization of the research work in thisdissertation, the further development about monitoring system is discussedOn the basis of summarizing and studying the correlative techniques, the paper put forward the system structure that using Ethernet as monitoring net and software system design mode based on COM+. At the same time, the water level monitoring system based on Ethernet and COM+ is designed As the base of water resource optimization and attemperation automation system, the system is very meaningful.
