University Library Acquisition Decision Support System Research And Implementation

Acquisition is the most important part of library working system. Lots of basic works are based on the great numbers and kinds of book collections, so the level of acquisition have direct effect on the whole collections' quality of library, it's the key point for collective building. High quality of collections also laid foundation for the efficiently service. Acquisition is the first important factor of library business. For now, the library staffs who engage in the acquisition work are facing more and more problems, including the high-floating price, limited funding, poor documents' quantity, fast accelerating rate, confounded publishing and issuance system and mistakes on collection policy or work.This thesis, based on the analysis of the quality, task, collection policy and principles of university library, aim at those problems. It sums up then brings forward a book selection standard that fit for the university library, sets up book selection constitution and mode, makes use of decision support system analyses and design method. It adopts Sybase database and PowerBuilder database developing tool, combining with Internet applications. Through system analysis and design, it preliminarily carries through library acquisition decision support system. This system can be used to assist acquisition staffs in work and therefore enhance the quality of acquisition.
