Mobile agent provides a novel paradigm for distributed computing. It has the potential to offer a single,general framework in which a wide range of distributed systems can be implemented efficiently,easily and robustly.This dissertation concentrates on the implementation of mobile agent system. We developed the MADP (Mobile Agent Development Platform) system and analysed its core algorithms. We discussed the characteristics of security,intelligence and the communication implementation of MADP.The other key issue of mobile agent system is the itinerary problem. We solve this problem by introducing and improving ant colony system.This thesis also discusses the concept and implementation principle of Jini,another distributed computing technique. We study the possibility of combining mobile agent and Jini that are two new distributed computing techniques.The main contributions of this thesis are as follows:(1) A Mobile Agent Development Platform is constructed based on the advancedcharacteristics of Java. The MADP system is open enough for importing modules to enhance intelligence and security etc. The system is highly robust and flexible. It is very easy for users to develop their own distributed computing task using MADP.(2) We select XML to encapsulate message according to the definition of agentcommunication language (ACL). Every message is implemented as an object. This makes the programming easier and the communication system open,standardized and scalable.(3) Improved ant colony system and genetic algorithm are combined to solve theTraveling Agent Problem.(4) An approach is explored to implement mobile agent system based on Jini,whichis a mature distributed computing technique.
