The task is to undertake a research on a control system applied to ultrasound instrument which performs the functions as follows. Firstly , it can output a PWM wave which duty(0 ~ 100%) and frequency(0.1 - 10Hz) are adjustable. Secondly, it can output a switch and timing signal.Thirdly, it can detect the frequency of signal generator (20K~100KHz) . Fourthly, the working state and parameter of signals mentioned above is showed on both PC monitor and LCD in controller. According to the current low-power, high-integration and miniaturization tendencys in instrument, MSP430F149 is selected as the core of controller. It is a new ultralow-power MCU consisting of different sets of modules targeted to various applications and used in low-power and portable instrument especially. The hardware is compact , reliable and steady. The program is complicated, so it is a embodiment of "Software is an instrument" . The monitor software in PC is compiled with VC++6. 0 and the program in MCU is compiled with C. PC and MCU communicates through serial port RS-232C, and more the control to ultrasound instrument is accomplished. In this control system, the scheduled result is attained and the aim of design is realized .In chapter 1,ultrasound and its application are outlined,the background of the task is introduced. In chapter 2, the workbench based on MSP430F149 and the design of schematic are expounded detailedly. In chapter 3, the chief of serial port communication technology and the serial port in MSP430F149 are introduced. In chapter 4 , LCD technology is described. In chapter 5 , software of the control system is set forth. In chapter 6,the test steps of control system itself , ultrasound instrument and control system are depicted.Some conclusions and foresights are given in the last chapter.
