This paper primarily studies and designs a kind of regular barrier detection system based on the technology of ultrasound locating. This system can locate the barrier by measuring certain distance with the reflected waves in the air, and then format its image on the premise that the speed and the time of transmitting wave is obtained.As the range of sending and transmitting of the ultrasonic sensor is not strictly the scattering angle like the cone, the range is divided into ten parts which are corresponding to the certain scattering angles in order to study and locate the barrier. This paper chose the micro-computer unit named SST89E564RD which makes use of RS-232 series ports to communicate with the computer.At last the length of the measured barrier is displayed on the virtual instrument through the powerful program environment of the LabVIEW.This paper also generally specifies the theoretical foundation of the system,introduces the software and hardware design of the system and correlative experiments. The design of the barrier detection system is targeted on high precision and little blind area. In order to improve the device's precision, we take measures such as temperature compensation, and so on. It composes several experiments aimed at the features of the device such as being affected by the temperature changing. The experimental contents were introduced and analyzed.
