Virtual reality is an advanced man-machine interface which allows the behaviors of the human being, such as viewing, listening and touching, to be conducted in a natural but virtual environment. Graphic rendering is the bottleneck in virtual reality. In this dissertation, the generation and rendering of models in virtual reality are studied and traditional modeling technology and fractal modeling technology are discussed and the improved method is published and applied to view scene emulation of simulated flight. In Chapter 1, we describe the basic concepts and primary characteristics of virtual reality system and point out that fractal modeling is a kind of promising key technology. In Chapter 2, we introduce the compositions of desktop virtual reality system in detail. In Chapter 3, we discuss merits and key technologies of the flight training simulator based on the technology of virtual reality. In Chapter 4, we analyse the application of traditional modeling technology in virtual reality. In Chapter 5, we discuss Fractional Brownian Motion and graphics rendering technology based on fractal and give the improved method. In Chapter 6, the author draw a conclusion. Based on current research results, some possible future work are described.
