With the development of computer technology, communications technology and other related technologies, virtual reality technology becomes the new direction of application development and Flight Simulation increasingly becomes the hotspot. Virtual flight simulation system plays an important role in aircraft design, performance analysis, pilot training, Analysis of war and national defense building. Insect flight simulation algorithm is an important development of virtual flight simulation algorithm, its research has good theoretical and practical value.Interaction and immersion is the most important indicators of virtual reality system to measure. Based on a thorough understanding of the principle and features of virtual reality technology, in the system of insect flight simulation, this thesis uses the state machine to indicate the acts of the insects'dodging, lingering, gliding, hovering .With the analysis of insects'flying video and the theory of realtime animation rendering, this thesis proposes a node-based line of insect flight simulation algorithm. In addition, the design of insects'acts is so rich that the virtual insects are closer to the true insects in nature, and this enhance user's immersion sense. To enhance the interaction, based on the deeply research of bounding-box collision detect, this thesis also designs a catching insects algorithm, enabling users to hold insect-catching net catching virtual insects and to feel the intelligence of insects.In order to prove the above algorithm is correct, this thesis uses OpenGL technology and C + + language to do the simulation. And all the algorithm is applied in the project "Catching Insects", which is cooperated by Guangdong Science Center and EI department in Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm method is correct and flight simulation on the practical use has good reference value.
