Floating-point adder is one of the basic parts of CPU. Its performance has a direct effect on CPU floating-point processing capacity. First, floating-point addition arithmetic is analyzed, and a new rational architecture is designed based on it. Integer adder, shifter and LZA these key parts are mainly studied and optimally designed. Then, CMOS IC's optimal design skills are discussed and floating-point adder is optimally designed with its performance sure. Finally, the floating-point adder is simulated. Test results indicate the floating-point adder can meet design needs in either performance or function.
