The Design And Development Of Java-based Mobile Agent System(jama) And Its Application In The Information Service In Internet

The rapid growth of Internt has not only accelerated the process of information retrieval but also reformed the means of information exchange between persons. However, with the rapid growth of the Internet information and the increasing demand of personal information service, the system of Internet information service based on traditional C/S model can not adapt to the demand of the rapid growth. Mobile Agent , with its excellent properties of autonomy, asynchronism and intelligence, has become an effective alternative for traditional C/S model to improve Internet information service, because it can perfectly adapts to the Internet which is distributed, heterogeneous and dynamic, and can compensate limitations of traditional information service paradigm. The development of MA relies on the popularization of its application, which in turn depends on the maturation of MA system. So, it is very important for us to research and develop MA system so as to boost the evolution of MA technology and employ it as a power tool of Internet information service. This paper concentrates on the research of MA system and its usage model in Internet information service, and the design, development and principal characteristics of Jama system, which developed by the author and another co-researcher. Firstly, the main technical properties of MA system and the its bright prospect are presented after the statement of its basic characteristics, engineering background, application fields and the current status of research and development of MA system. Secondly, based on both the analysis of structure of a MA system and the comparison of several typical Java-based MA system, the main functions of Jama system and its implementation scheme are determined. In order to meet the demand of intbrmation service and resource management, the process of design and development of Jama system and its key technical kernels are stated in detail. Moreover, the advantages of Jama system are introduced after the comparison test between Jama system and C/S model through which the analysis of user information in Scientific Database system maintained by Chinese Academy of Sciences is completed. Meanwhile, The promising future of Jama system is demonstrated by the assumption of application of Jama system in wireless Internet. Thirdly, concluding from the experiences of development and practical application, some necessary improvement of Jama system are suggested.
