Reciting is a way of reading and a traditional way of teaching as well . From the ancient time to now , many scholars and teachers have paid much attention to the function of reciting in the teaching of the Chinese language"Reciting aloud"is also recognised as a symbolic phenomenon in Chinese class. The newly promulgated"Full-time average high school Chinese curriculum syllabus""High school Chinese curricula standards(experimental)"also draw much attention to the teaching of reciting .Therefore, reciting shouls be used as an important teaching method as well as a way of learning in mordern Chinese teaching in order to make full use of the function of this"vocal language",moreover , to promote the quality of the students.At present, however , influenced by the exam-oriented teaching and traditional analytical teaching mode ; schools and teachers have ignored the status and effect of reciting , and the situation of the teaching of reciting in senior schools is worrying . I surveyed the teachers and the students in the school where I have been working , and the results shows that there are three primary problems in the teaching of reciting in senior schools . One is that the teachers'quality of the teaching of reciting is not satisfactory . Another problem is that the students don't have strong interest in reciting and their reciting ability is poor . Still another is that the teaching method of reciting is single and mechanical .Here I present specific strategy to improve the backward situation of the teaching of reciting in senior schools through self-practice and teaching cases . I elaborate it mainly in three aspects : The first strategy is to improve the teachers'quality in the teaching of reciting by promoting their reciting teaching theory , streethening their practice ability of reciting and improving their plan for reciting teaching. The second one is to improve the students'reciting ability by trainzing their reciting stress,pause,rhythm and intonation.The third one is to develop the students'interest in reciting and improve the efficiency of the class with a variety of ways of reciting,Such as demonstration, comparison, reciting together,self-reciting,group reciting,specific reciting and reciting in and after class.
