A Teaching Study On Using Well-designed Worksheets In A Junior High School

This article is a study on the Well-designed Worksheets methodology adopted in a Junior Middle School mathematic teaching in a key school in Jiangsu Province. The main research method includes action research,questionnaire and interviews. The main purpose of the study is to find out the advantages of Well-designed Worksheets methodology comparing with the traditional model of teaching, problems in the practice, so as to find a new teaching method which is favorable to the development of the students.As a mathematic teacher, the author participates in the practice of Well-designed Worksheets and carries out a questionnaire survey to 165 students in junior middle school grade two. According to the result of the survey, the author interview 21 students and seven mathematics teachers of the school and discuss about the following issue:1. The students' perception and reaction to the Well-designed Worksheets.2. The teachers' perception and reaction to the Well-designed Worksheets.3. The advantage of the Well-designed Worksheets methodology comparing with the traditional model of teaching and its deficiency in the practice.And the study shows that most of the students and teachers are positive to the Well-designed Worksheets methodology. It has great advantage in the teaching practice. It lightens students' burden, arouse the learning interest of most students, be favorable to reduce the gap between classes, comprehensively improve teaching result. It can also promote the teachers to improve their theory and teaching skill. Of course, the Well-designed Worksheets methodology has its defects. First, it is difficult to design new worksheets; second, its teaching effect could not always be better than other teaching methods. The Well-designed Worksheets methodology depends mostly on the worksheets, but even with the standard worksheets, there also accompanies with the issue of implementation that is carry out by different teacher. Meanwhile, Well-designed Worksheets methodology doesn't care enough to those students who are introversive and unexpressive. In the end, based upon the survey, the author gives some suggestions accordingly.
