| Although China has witnessed a long history of technical education, technical education at Undergraduate level (TEUL) is an infant in the process of shaping up compared with other types of education. In recent years, along with the increased demand for technical talents and better understanding of TEUL, relevant studies and discussions have bloomed and born fruit, especially the studies on basic theories of TEUL, which have clarified its position in the higher education system and its development coordinates in higher education popularization.Once TEUL is placed in the focus of theoretical studies, a variety of problems and challenges have emerged with controversies and further discussions. Deliberation and reflection aroused by various problems in talent cultivation plan, curriculum and instruction have led to some guiding conclusions. However, faced with the practical need for an internal development, TEUL is confined for further progress unless a systematic study on those problems is carried out and relevant solutions proposed. Among all those problems, practice teaching is one of the key issues, which is not only the core for the internal development of TEUL but also the main impetus for a development with unique features. In respect of the cultivation of application-oriented talents, practice teaching is an indispensable part of TEUL.It is because of this need for the combination of theoretical knowledge and practice that studies are focused on the introduction of practice teaching into TEUL and how to build up a practice teaching system in accordance with distinctive features and laws of TEUL. The dissertation, on the basis of a thorough understanding of current situations of practice teaching of TEUL, explores the objectives, mechanism and methods in the construction of practice teaching system through the literature material law, comparative law and case studiesChapter One is the Introduction. It describes the background of the thesis, presents existing problems in the practice teaching of TEUL and defines related concepts. Based on the review of relevant resources and literature in this field, the chapter explains the research contents and methods used in the dissertation.Chapter Two lists out Distinctive Features of Practice Teaching of TEUL. Practice teaching of different types and levels of education is compared from the perspectives of capability concept and instituting elements of practice teaching. In addition, features of practice teaching in different countries and regions are summarized and the basic features of practice teaching of TEUL in China are concluded as followed: the objectives of practice teaching highlight creative intelligent skills in the knowledge and skill structure of an application-oriented competent person; the design of instruction emphasizes creativity and versatility; the contents of teaching adapt to the demands of social and economic development, reflecting the application and rapid progress of modern technology. After presenting the features of practice teaching of TEUL, the chapter moves on to identify the position of practice teaching, demonstrating that a mutual dependent and complementary relationship exists between the practice teaching and theory teaching.Chapter Three talks about the Construction of Practice Teaching System of TEUL. Based on the laws and features of TEUL, the chapter proposes that the construction of practice teaching system should be systematic, application oriented, and standardized with clear objectives and complete practice process. Considering features of practice teaching of TEUL, the development of teaching contents could be realized through mechanism design, environment construction and methods exploration. The mechanism design explores the objective driven 'three-three-two' practice teaching mode, which means three cultivation levels, three cultivation platforms and two cycling structures. The environment construction emphasizes its function orientation and the integration of practice teaching resources, while the methods exploration seeks for original creation in the practice Teaching methods .Chapter Four discusses the Safeguard System for Practice Teaching of TEUL. On a thorough analysis of operation requirements for the practice teaching system, the chapter expounds the necessity and importance of setting up a safeguard system and how to achieve the goal through building a 'dual-skill' teaching team, effective practice teaching system administration, supervision of practice teaching, and assessment system. |
