After a vigorous development of China's higher education in recent years, the scale of China's higher education has been the first rank in the world. In the quick development of our countri's higher education, universities are gradually change their ways of the traditional elite education, and we have been achieved very good results in the diversity of higher education, this will lay a foundation of further promoting the reform of higher education, improving the quality of higher education, and promoting the development of higher education. However, when we see the achievements of diversification ,we should also be seen in this process still exist some problems, especially in the location process of higher education institutions the assimilation phenomenon stil quite serious. The location of higher education institutions is to posite itself position and that the expected in the higher education system in accordance with the actual situation and the needs of the community. The location of higher education includs horizontal location and vertical location.The so-called horizontal location means locating of the higher education institutions of disciplines,such as billing division,multidisciplinary andcomprehensive university;The so-called vertical location of higher education institutions mainly refers to the types of personnel training in the position, such as to train graduates account for a larger proportion of research universities, and training undergraduates based teaching and research universities and teaching universities, as well as vocational and technical training College personnel based institutions. In addition, the location of the so-called "first class" but also to the vertical location of higher education institutions. Can a reasonable location for the higher education institutions have a very important role for the future development of higher education institutions. Therefore, find the reasons of blindly assimilation in the process of location of higher education institutions ,and find some ways to resolving this issue have a very important significance for the continuous development of our countrie's higher education.This paper is divided into four main parts:The first part is the problem raised. First on the part is the background of the rasied issues, and then cited the assimilation speific performance in the process of higher education instituions,as well as the negative impact for the development of higher education. The second part is analysis of the reasons of the blindly assimilation. In this section, the author detailed analysis of the five reasions of blindly assimilation in the process of locating our countrie's higher education institutions: ideas, concepts, and higher education funding, policy, the assessment criteria of institutional and administrative University College.The third part, the International Experience of location of higher education. In this section, the author lists the main example of the United States colleges and universities to introduce measures positioning from a macro level, and schools level.Part IV, the strategy to change the assimilation in the process of locating the higher education institutions . From the analysising of the reasons for the assimilation and learn from the experience of foreign countries,I believe that in order to solve the assimilation of location of higher education institutions ,we should be to proceed from social, policy and system level, as well as schools level.
