As an indispensable part in modern physical education, physical education is the central part in higher education, and the quality of it will directly affect the cultivation of the talents in this century. Along with the further reform of the teaching of physical education in higher education, badminton, which is listed into the major courses in physical education in higher education, becomes a part in physical education in Province and gains progressive popularity among college students. This thesis further explores the current situation of the condition of badminton teaching in higher education, especially in province in order to improve the teaching quality of badminton, and also to clarify the teaching objective, diversify the teaching activity, provide more valuable advice in the teaching reform so that to make badminton counts more in physical education.By using data collection, questionnaire survey, expert interview, data analysis and logical analysis, the thesis investigates the current condition of badminton teaching in higher education in HLJ province including not only the students'understanding of badminton, their consciousness and motivation in taking part in badminton, their degree of satisfaction towards badminton teaching, but also the teacing staff of badminton in province, its curricular setting, relative extracurricular activities and the real condition of the field and eqipment of badminton in higher education in province. The thesis proposes corresponding method in dealing with the problems mentioned above. It is hoped that this thesis can promote the development of badminton in higher education in province. The research shows that:1. College students in province are highly sport-conscious but the number of students who take part in badminton is quite few. Most students know something about badminton, however, because the limits of the field and the climate, they have little chance to take part in badminton.2. The teaching staff of badminton in higher education in province are not quite qualified in general, most of them are quite young and the male teachers are more than female teachers. As their educational standard and their job tilte are not high, there is the backwardness in their scientific rearch. And also for the less of the teachers who major in badminton, most of the teachers improve their teaching abilities by re-training and self-study. All these lead to the low level of the badminton teaching.3. The teaching content is quite single and the teaching organization is not reasonable. In the process of badminton teaching, the competitive skills takes the major part and because of the lack of diversity in teaching, the students feel boring so that their positiveness toward badminton is seriously affected. 4. The teaching structure is irrational. While teaching, the teachers totally play the leading part or the students are regarded as the most important par in class, the reasonable and suitable teaching enviroment is not established so that the teaching is not quite efficient.5. The equipment of badminton in the higher education in province can meet the needs of the students, but because of the short opening time of the gym, the inadequate space utilization, and insufficient attention of the leadership so that the rate of utilizaiton is relatively low which seriously hampered the development of badminton.6. Countermeasures are: to increase the publicity of badminton, improve the quilificaiton of the teaching staff, enrich the teaching content, optimize the teaching structure and increase the utilization of sports facilities.
