This paper analyses the causes of the communication problems with the deaf students in the language teaching and point out that it's just because the unsuitable teaching methods .We should define the intension and extention concept of the deaf students'language scientifically , strengthen the policy's flexibility about the special educational school, absorb the advanced experience from other countries and try to find the right teaching way which would be suited for our Chinese deaf students.Through tracing to the history of the sign language and the development of the language teaching in the special educational school, studying the deaf students'cognition and the function of the sign language in teaching Chinese in the special educational school, author suggests teaching and improving deaf students'language competence by using sign language and following the four aspects:Firstly, help the deaf students learn Chinese phonetic alphabet—pronunciation, spelling and reading through finger language;Secondly, help to develop the deaf students'language thinking and bring about their oral language and communication ability by natural sign language;Thirdly, help the deaf students understand more about the words and learn to use the language freely by grammar sign language;Fourthly, develop the deaf students'reading and writing ability; make students be interested in literature by telling the stories using sign language.
