Slow learners' learning difficulties are a universal phenomenon of the foundation stage of education , which is hindering the progress of such students, restricting the education efficiency and troubling many countries' education development . Slow learners have also led to some social problems, which indirectly delayed the local economic development. Therefore many education experts and scholars have conducted many researches into such a problem from different angles and had a number of achievements. As a sub-project in the education sector , slow learners' learning difficulties are also growing concern and attention. Currently, the researches mainly focus on the awareness, or they are from the perspective of all disciplines, or from the moral point of view. However , few people have not studied it from a particular perspective of the disciplines, such as the aspect of English Teaching.To define "who are slow learners?" , we should not do it using the "one size fits all" approach, because one student may be very poor in English, but he can still be excellent in Chinese . Considering these conditions, it's better to define Slow learners in certain subject, and in turn the transformation of slow learners should be varying in different subjects.Based on relative research results from home and abroad , using theories from educational psychology and teaching methodology, this thesis applies the method of samples and analyses to deal with the problems of slow learners in my school , to analyze the causes of their learning difficulties, and to sum up the various reasons leading to their backwardness in study. The thesis has also made some attempts in the means of improvement , that is to attach emphasis to the development of their non-intellectual factors, to create better family environment, as well as to establish a proper evaluation system which benefits the students.The full text is structured as follows:Part one elaborates the reasons of writing this thesis and introduces the theoretical basis of this thesis.Part two generalizes the researches into the slow learners at home and abroad , and the enlightenment from these studies. It also tells about the definition of the slow learners in English study.Part three analyses the causes of the slow learners in English study through samples and other information.Part four introduces some basic concepts, principles and specific methods in the process of transforming the slow learners in English studyThe study and the corresponding practices show : only by paying close attention to the slow learners in English study and finding out the root causes , can we efficiently do the job of transformation and suit the remedy to the case , which ends up improving their study and helping them develop harmoniously and comprehensively.
