| With the development of economic globalization, English, the most widely used language in the world, has become an increasingly important tool. So it is vital to learn English well. In senior high school, English is an important subject in college entrance exams, for its score plays a significant role in the choices of colleges that are available to high school students. However, there is a large number of English slow learners in senior high school. In the senior high school that the writer is teaching, the percentage of English slow learners is as high as 90%. So the study on the cause and transformation of English Slow Learners is urgent and important, which is related to the teaching quality and graduation rates of the school, as well as the students’ quality learning. Even the score of college entrance exams in the future can be affected.The aim of this paper is to find out the reasons of English slow learners in Xiangyang NO.2 High School. According to the reasons, the writer can make some proper strategies to transform the English slow learners into English good learners, which can make the English slow learners interested in English. After the transformation, the English slow learners can make a good performance in English learning, and the school can get a good result in College Entrance Examination.The methods of this study are an investigation and interviews. After the investigation and interviews, the writer found that two causes make English slow learners.They are internal causes and external causes. The internal causes include the interest in English, the learning foundation, psychology, the learning strategies and motivation. The external causes can be talked from the teachers, school, family and the nature of English.According to the causes, the writer puts forward some useful advice on how to transform the English slow learners. The transformation advice can be given from the aspects of teachers, the school and the families. |
