Since 1990's, studies on learning adaptability have been increasingly conducted in China. A large number of theoretical and empirical researches have been mainly focused on the concept and function of learning adaptability by primary and middle school students and learning adaptability cultivation. Nevertheless, little have researches on specific subject been done. In fact, it is proven that psychological tutoring and integration can improve the students'adaptive ability with specific subject teaching. Mathematics is a key subject in fundamental education. Hence, it is necessary to carry out a survey on the adaptability to Mathematics study. With the increasing development of our country's economy and the gradual decline of birth rate, quality education urge people to pursue high quality education and education of personality. As a result, smaller class teaching that may be a future tendency in China has emerged in some cities like Shanghai. This research is being carried out in Guilin Experimental High School to 105 first year students in 4 small classes. In order to quest for proper ways to cultivate their adaptability and shorten the adaptive period, it is necessary to conduct such a research, which will have a positive impact on their mathematics study. Being a mathematics teacher, I pay special attention to this issue. Smaller class teaching has its own characteristics and advantages, accordingly, my reflections on this study is listed as follows: (1) What impact smaller class teaching will bring to the students in mathematics study; (2) Whether it will improve their the students'mathematics study; (3) What kind of methods and measures should be taken to get ideal effect;(4) What characteristics and differences it will result in to various types of students. With the questions above in mind, the current survey has been conducted in Guilin Experimental High School to 105 students as subjects. Analysis of the results of the survey found that there are some significant differences in gender, ethics and areas on their adaptability in mathematics study. Overall adaptive ability to mathematics study is not ideal enough among the first year students. As to this, I have analyzed the concrete reason, and proposed tactical suggestions in order to develop students'mathematics adaptive ability.
