Students in vocational schools are in general academically poor. They enter into vocational schools either because they did not study well in middle school, or their family could not afford the high school and college education fee. According to a recent survey the vocational students do not perform well especially in Chinese; students lack in confidence. Consequently, a vicious circle, which constantly obsesses the Chinese teaching in vocational school, develops: The students are bored with study while the teachers get tired of teaching. However, entities are in a bad need of more qualified vocational students in this information and knowledge-economy age. Facing this challenge, vocational schools must take prompt measures to reform the Chinese teaching, emphasizing the importance of fostering students' intellectuality in Chinese learning.Based on the reconsideration of Chinese language education system in vocational school as well as on substantive researches and experiments, this article focuses on three modes of education, i.e., students-centered mode, market-centered mode and development-centered mode. The orientation of students-centered teaching demands students actively learn Chinese under the guidance of teachers; that of market-centered mode requires teachers timely readjust their teaching method to meet the need of market; that of development-centered mode suggests teachers nurture students intellectual capability. The reform will give incentive to Chinese teaching in vocational school, helping students be better prepared for their future.
