When we look back over and think about the teaching of the classical Chinese in the past few decades, we'll find out without difficulty that the causes for the dull atmosphere in class are as follows:1 The teachers' focus on knowledge and interpretation of the classical Chinese has forced the students to study by rote and thus fight it off with fear and disgust.2 The teachers' strong sense of " authority" in teaching and the cramming teaching style has deprived the students of their enthusiasm and creativity.3 The emphasis on memorizing and reciting the texts without being able to use them for reference has disabled the students and the teachers to combine their unique understandings in the process of teaching and learning and thus made the teaching of the classical Chinese a mere recitation process and a simplification model.4 The features of the classical Chinese itself formed through the long history has often been overlooked in the course of teaching .5 The teaching of the classical Chinese has been devaluated .As a matter of fact, the humanistic value and the emotional functions of the classical Chinese are very important to high school students today who have long been influenced by " cultural snacks" and who are no longer sensitive to the beautiful world and have poor sense of beauty . Therefore the teachers should make full use of teaching of the classical Chinese language to develop the students' noble appreciation of the beautiful. The strategy and the exploration of the reform in the teaching of the classical Chinese language are to be developed in the following aspects:1 First of all, we should treat the classical Chinese as "works" i.e. "texts" instead of reading materials.2 Bring into play the students' experience and emotions so as to shorten the distance between them and the classical Chinese. Increasethe dialogue between the students and the texts, bringing them to the "heart-to-heart talk" with the " texts" & the writers.3 Borrow from the traditions scientifically and oppose simplifying reading to simply learning by rote. The students' reading of the classical Chinese with their knowledge and experience of life and their emotional understanding is a process of combining their subjective experience and their personal understandings. Therefore we should reconsider the teaching aims of the classical Chinese based on the accumulation of knowledge. We should handle the teaching of the classical Chinese from a higher and deeper perspective and bring it into a better stage in the course of the reforms of the teaching of the Chinese language.
