The occupation of teaching lays great stress on teachers of different kinds, but middle-school teachers suffer the most.Occupational stress is of dual feature. Appropriate stress can create active reactions. It can focus the attention. It can keep up teaching morale. It can stimulate thinking. But over-loaded stress can lead all kings of side-effects to teachers physically, mentally and professionally, which will affect teachers' occupational interests, attitude and their teaching behaviors, thus bringing about bad effect or quality, which in the end absolutely affect the whole school education system or even the society in a direct or indirect way.The cause of occupational stress lies in two aspects. They are teachers' professional characteristics caused by external pressure and internal individual behavior involved in individual character .In particular, they include mainly the students, the high expectation from the society, the reforms of education systems, the teachers' occupational status, the environment in the school, the teachers' self-awareness, particular experience and public relationship. These elements are tri-dimensional: the society, the school and the teacher. So adjustments should be made accordingly to relieve stress. But the stress is after all a kind of mental phenomenon experienced by teachers themselves. So the teacher is the most crucial element of the three. This is why this thesis deals with the strategies on teachers' self-adjustments to relieve the over-loaded stress.Teachers' character, belief, professional quality, teaching environment should be taken into consideration while making self-adjustments to relieve over-loaded stress. Self-adjustments fall into two categories: one is emotion controlling; the other is problem solving. And they should be made physically, psychologically, mentally and professionally. So on the one hand the origin of stress should becontrolled objectively, on the other hand, subjective efforts should be made to adapt stress and improve stress adaptability. In particular, a sound mental system should be set up, first of all, to defense against stress beforehand, holding a positive rather than a negative attitude toward stress. Then proper measures should be taken to face up to stress, turning from a passive stress-bearer to an active fighter. Finally, mental self-adjustments should be taken promptly, if there is over-loaded stress, to relieve stress and to improve stress adaptability.
