With the new curriculum reform deepening, the traditional teaching concepts of Chinese Language have been challenged. As a new teaching concept, the aesthetic teaching has been adopted in Chinese course. This paper was to investigate the aesthetic teaching in the modern and contemporary prose of the Chinese Language textbooks in the junior middle schools and explore new thinking and methods, which has adapted the requirements of new reform, and has an important influence in improving the Chinese quality of the students.The traditional methods in teaching prose have a biggest disadvantage that the teachers explain the prose, completely instead of the students'views in the courses, which made the students form a fixed thinking mode. By contrast, what the aesthetic teaching emphasizes is that appreciation actually is a psychology active from the aesthetic. It is restricted by the images in the works, but meanwhile, it could not normalize the breakout from sorts of characters'personalities.Consequently, it is required that the students turn into the main role in appreciating the prose. The teachers should respect the views and experiences from every student but not force their understandings to the students. Therefore, in the course, the roles of the students'subject and the teachers'guidance can become true.Based on the introduction of the teaching materials selection, the teaching condition, the theory on the aesthetic ability and the according background, this paper lays its emphasis on expounding and proving the strategies of cultivating the students'aesthetic ability in modern and contemporary prose. In the framework of modern aesthetic theory, the aesthetic ability mainly consists of aesthetic perception ability, aesthetic internalization ability, aesthetic appreciation ability and aesthetic creation ability. From the outside to the inside, and from the easy to the difficult and complicated, this paper gave a mode to cultivate the students'aesthetic ability of modern and contemporary prose. In addition, from the aesthetic perspective views, this paper broke out the traditional teaching path of splitting the texts and tried to probe the way to improve the students'aesthetic ability in modern and contemporary prose.
