The Impoverished College Students' Interpersonal Communication Barrier

The university tuition system brings out the problem of the impoverished college student which has gradually become a special group in recent years with an increasing number and a widespread trend in colleges and universities. The larger the quantity of impoverished students, the more problems that they bring out to schools and society. The problems that the impoverished student confront with not only seriously affect the life and development of their own and their family, but also have impact on the quality of college education, and then affect the social stability and harmonious development. A wide concern is paid to the economic difficulties of the impoverished student, while their psychological problems are ignored. A series of aid system is established to help the impoverished student to solve the material poverty. However, there are various difficulties and barriers in their interpersonal communication which produces some problems. If their interpersonal problems can not be solved promptly, a serious effect on their physical and mental health can not be avoided.With undergraduate student of Lanzhou University as the object of study, the thesis carries on the research of the interpersonal communication of the impoverished student. Based on literature study and questionnaire and with the help of case interviews, a further insight into some selected students is carried out from aspects of current situation, features, barriers and causes of students' interpersonal communication as well as solving tactics. From the investigation and study of the thesis, the majority of the impoverished student behaves very well in their interpersonal communication, but being affected by family, society and themselves, they have some problems in self-awareness, emotion, personality and ability, which will seriously affect their interpersonal communication and development. These problems should enjoy due attention from society, family, school and themselves, and a good communication environment is needed to create for the impoverished students. As for the problems that the impoverished student have in interpersonal communication, taking the practical work of college into consideration, students themselves, college, family and society should work together to solve the impoverished students'interpersonal communication problems and help them to overcome communication barriers so as to let them enjoy a full physical and mental development.
