With the rapid development of economy and technology, international exchange between China and the world becomes more and more frequent, which leads to an increasing demand for more qualified personnel capable of intercultural communication. Nowadays it has been accepted that the final aim of English teaching is to cultivate the students' intercultural communicative competence. It is well-known that students want to master not only the language form but also the cultural contents of this language at the same time. In this way they can use the language correctly and understand the language thoroughly. Secondary Vocational School is different from ordinary high school. It is more prominent to train the students'ability of all aspects, but for English teaching, it is more important for students to train their communicative competence and culture teaching is an essential part for English teaching. It is obvious that we should pay more attention to the cultural teaching in the EFLT in secondary vocational schools. Through the test on English cultural knowledge, the questionnaire, investigation and interview, the paper analyzes the reasons of absence of cultural teaching in the EFLT in secondary vocational schools and provides data and suggestions for English teaching practice of secondary vocational schools.This paper consists of four chapters.The first chapter tells the basic requirements of English teaching in secondary vocational education. Then it analyzes the current teaching status of secondary vocational schools.The second chapter makes a brief review of the study on teaching of culture in recent years both at home and abroad and introduces the relations between cultural teaching and English teaching.The third chapter relates methods of testing, the questionnaire investigation and interview on English teaching and learning in secondary vocational school.The forth chapter analyzes the causes of absence of cultural teaching in secondary vocational schools, puts forward the strategies and suggestions that will improve the cultural teaching in EFLT.The aim of the paper is to find out the reasons for absence of cultural teaching in secondary vocational schools and put forward the strategies and suggestions. It is hoped that the introduction of cultural knowledge in secondary vocational schools English teaching can change the current teaching status of secondary vocational schools.
