Content: Upon the continuously developing of the reform of the educationalsystem, the State pays more attention on the vocational education. At present, thesecondary vocational education has entered into the period of development at top speed.There are large requirements on the skilled personnel graduated from secondaryvocational school. Economic globalization leads to more communication, which raisehigh requirements on the skilled personnel graduated from secondary vocational school.The society needs the skilled personnel who is also perfect in speaking English. TheEnglish language teaching in the secondary vocational school is of more importance.However, the present teaching effect of the secondary vocational school for English isnot good enough, which shows the mismatch between the teaching and the practice. TheEnglish proficiency of the student can’t be competent for a job. There is a bigcontradiction between the society’s requirements and the student’s ability. How toresolve this contradiction and improve the quality of teaching has become the first taskof the secondary vocational education.Utilizing the documentary method, questionnaire method and interviewing method,this text has researched the English teaching situation in the aspect of student andteacher in the secondary vocational school. The concrete method includes questionnairesurvey on344students, interview on16teachers and8graduates. Upon theabovementioned research, this text finds out the existing problems as: less interests bythe students, bad study habits, dull teaching method, lack of good teachers, prejudicedtextbook without professional feature, etc. According to such situation, the author raisedcorresponding measures, such as motivating the interests of the students, enhancing theguidance to the students, raising good study habits, turning teacher’s concept, improvingteaching method, training good teachers and developing English textbook, etc. Theauthor hopes the research in this text can make some reference to improve the Englishteaching of the secondary vocational education.This text includes five parts: the first part is the preface, which sets forth thebackground and the meaning of this research; the second part is the researching basis,which introducing the researching situation of the foreign secondary vocational schooland the national one as well as the theoretical basis, important concept, researching method and researching object of this research; the third part is the researching result,which analyzing the students questionnaires and summarizing the teachers’ andgraduates’ interviewing to find out the existing problems and analyzing the causes; thefourth part setting out the countermeasures to the existing problems; and the fifth part isthe conclusion, which is a brief introduction of the results of this research.
