Studies On The Character-Words Of Jin Dialect

Since 1980's, the researches on the vocabulary of Jin (the abbreviated name of Shanxi province) dialect have got lots of achievements, but there are not many thesis on the comparisons of the phrases and expressions of Jin dialect, let alone the comparison between Jin dialect and other Chinese dialects. Therefore, it is necessary and important to do the research on the two kinds of comparison mentioned above.Under the guideline of Mr. Rulong Li's'the theory of characteristic phrases of dialects', I also made some supplements to it. After material collection and complementary investigation of the seven spots among the seven parts of Jin dialect, I made a list called characteristic phrases of Jin dialect, and then select 312 phrases from them. After that, these phrases are classified into different tiers according to some standard. They are classified into two tiers: in the first tier, there are 155 unique phrases in Jin dialect itself; the second includes the related phrases shared between Jin dialect and other dialects, 157 phrases in all. The two tiers can be further classified into two classes separately: the first tier can be classified into the two classes, first class which has 23 phrases and second class which has 132; the second tier can be classified into two classes, first class which has 129 phrases and second class which has 28.In this thesis, the characteristic phrases of Jin dialect are discussed in both synchronic and diachronic terms. In synchronic term, the characteristic phrases are discussed from the aspect of properties of the words, the structures of the sound and the kinds of the meaning the words belong to respectively. On the other hand, in diachronic term, the characteristic phrases are classified into the inherited words, changed words and new words. At last, I also try to find out the relations between the phrases of Jin dialect and other dialectal phrases in other Chinese dialects through counting the number of the shared phrases between Jin dialect and other Chinese dialects. The research shows that it is the most close relationship for the Jin dialect with the Official dialect, especially with the Zhongyuan official dialect and Jilu official dialect.There are mainly three parts of this thesis: 1. Introduction, which there are three parts----the summary of the Jin dialect researches, the theory of characteristic phrases of dialects and the method of research I will use in this thesis.2. The characteristic phrases of Jin dialect, which includes two parts----the characteristic phrases in the places where Jin dialect are spoken and the characteristic phrases shared in different dialectal parts.3. The synthesized research on the characteristic phrases of Jin dialect, which includes four parts----the synthesized research on the characteristic phrases in the synchronic term, the synthesized research on the characteristic phrases in the diachronic term, the character of the Jin dialectal word in terms of the characteristic phrases and the relation between Jin dialect and other dialects in terms of the characteristic phrases.
