Tang-yang Dialect Study

The Tangyang dialect (Dongtai municipality,Jiangsu province) belongs to the Jianghuai dialects of Mandarin dialect region, and it has characteristics of Jianghuai dialect.This article summarizes the phonological system抯 characters of Tangyang dialect in terms of its initial consonants, final vowels, tones, tone sandhi, and differences between written and vernacular pronunciation. It also records the syllabary and common words of Tangyang dialect. Furthermore, this article analyzes the grammatical characteristics of Tangyang dialect. In a word, it focuses on phonetics, words and phrases and grammar of Tangyang dialect.
