The Xibes are originally from northeast China. In 1764, in order to enhance the combat readiness of the northwest border region, Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty dispatched the Xibes from northwest China to the Yili region of Xinjiang. When the Xibes arrived at Yili, they established Xibe troop according to the Emperor. From then on, they play a great role to protecting and exploiting of northwest border region of China.During Qing Dynasty, the Xibes made tremendous contributions in agricultural of Yili river basin. The Xibe troop was the most affluent troop in"four troops of Yili"at that time. Not only did they open up vast fertile farmland by wealth agriculture experience, but also help other nations to dug ditches and pass on agricultural technology. The Chabuchar Canal built by the Xibes not only played an important task of irrigation at that time, they still rely on this Canal irrigate farmland today.The Xibes also set an example to other nations in safeguarding the motherland's border security and territorial integrity. When the war broke out, they still often sent to suppress rebellion, so they were praised for strong army. The Xibes played an important role in the pacification of"the Changka'er rebel"and the war of droved Tsarist Russia off and recovered Yili.In addition, the Xibes also make greater contributions to preserving and developing the Manchu language.
