IBT is greatly significant in promoting international economic exchanges. Nowadays, when world economy is increasingly globalized and the international business ties are strengthened with each passing day, the importance and academic position of IBT tends to be even more noticeable. The systematic study of IBT for facilitating the development of international business has emerged as one of the important fields of academic research, which attracts the attention of numerous scholars. Nevertheless, IBT is still baffled by a lot of problems. The theoretical foundation in this field calls for more efforts of solidifying. However, it is inspiring that translatology has been gradually established as an independent discipline after heated disputes arising from the issue. In spite of the fact that the position of the emerging discipline is yet to be stabilized, its theoretical framework to be perfected, the establishment of translatology as a separate discipline has laid solid foundation for the progress of the cause of translation.IBT is a major object of translatology. The general principles abstracted in translatology can be applied in guiding the study of IBT theory and practice. IBT has its own characteristics. The systematical study in this field, however, is yet to be strengthened. In order to radically transform the current unfavorable conditions and to boost the progress of IBT and international business, a typical knowledge system should be established as a branch of translatology. The system we proposed here is TIB.The author of this dissertation bases his attempts on the theoretical system of translatology and other related theories with a view to demonstrating the feasibility of TIB and constructing the framework of the discipline. The first chapter of the dissertation elaborates on the significance of IBT and the urgency of systematically studying IBT, and puts forward the approaches to the systematical study in this respect: (1) the analysis and borrowing of general translation theories; (2) the summarization and abstraction of the translators' experience in this field; and (3) the reference and study of the achievements in the field of non-literary translation, especially of IBT.Then in Chapter Two, the author summarizes and introduces the disputes over the independent disciplinary position of translatology, the possibility and feasibility of its establishment as well as the disciplinary nature, the tasks, approaches and framework of translatology. Thus the relatively full preparation for the establishment of TIB is made beforehand. On the basis of the framework of translatology, the author points out in Chapter Three that TIB should be established as one of the major branches of translatology. He analyzes the favorable conditions for establishing TIB as a separate discipline by considering historical and theoretical bases, disciplinary pace-makers and representative works. He proposes and demonstrates the "five-step" guideline for establishing TIB:(1) Specifying the objects and scope of TIB;(2) Clarifying the disciplinary nature of TIB;(3) Straightening out relationships within and outside the discipline;(4) Setting up the theoretical framework of TIB;(5) Searching for the approaches to the study of TIB.As a conclusion, the last chapter holds that TIB cannot be established overnight, the various schools' diversified propositions are indispensable for its progress. The construction of its theoretical framework is a beneficial attempt for promoting the development of TIB. In the meantime, more importance should be attached to theoretical studies of IBT, and more efforts should be made in training numerous international business translators and theorists. Only by this means can we pave a smooth way for the prosperity of IBT and the theoretical development of TIB.
