Comments On Chinese Translation Of Business Slang In Subtitles Of Movie Wall Street Based On Eco-translatology

Wall Street is one of the most classic commercial war movies in the United States.The most prominent feature of its language is various kinds of business slang.In order to allow the Chinese audience to better understand the connotation of the movie,obtain rich viewing experience,and realize cross-cultural exchanges to a greater extent,the thesis intends to analyze the inherent ecological characteristics of business slang in the subtitles and the E-C translation characteristics,in the hope of mutual encouragement with experts and colleagues.The thesis first briefly introduces Eco-translatology and its five core concepts:"translational eco-environment","translation Adaptation","translation Selection","translator-centeredness" and "multi-dimensional transformation",explaining the feasibility of Eco-translatology to E-C translation of business slang in subtitles of Wall Street.On this basis,the thesis fully explores the inherent ecological characteristics of business slang in the subtitles of Wall Street:business specialization,expression colloquialism,and semantic contextualization;summarizes the"Adaptation and Selection" features of the business slang which can achieve commercial purposes to a certain extent:closing distance among business people,easing serious business atmosphere,and releasing speakers’ emotions.In view of these inherent ecological characteristics of business slang in the subtitles,the thesis discusses the characteristics of its E-C translation from two perspectives:(1)From the perspective of "translator-centeredness",the thesis explores the originality of E-C translation,namely:eco-environment foregrounding,Adaptation and Selection prominence,integration and Adaptation highlighting;and(2)From the perspective of"multi-dimensional transformation",the thesis analyzes the multi-dimensional transformation of E-C translation in three aspects:language,culture and communication.The research shows that the Chinese translation of business slang in the subtitles of Wall Street is the result of making the best translation selection based on the inherent eco-environment of business slang.It has extremely high appreciation value,so as to achieve the purpose of promoting cross-cultural commercial communication.This article verifies the feasibility and actual value of Eco-translatology to guide translation practice to a certain extent.At the same time,it supplements the research perspectives of E-C translation of business slang,providing a certain reference for the research of business slang translation.
