Primary Exploration To The Impact Of Society,History And Local Culture Factors On The Selection Of "Language Use In Guangxi Autonomous Region

As a subset in national social science fund project undertaken by our college, this thesis is one of the research topics in the survey of language & writing systems used in Guangxi Region.The thesis mainly discusses how society , history and local culture influences the selection of lanugage from the sociolinguistics & culture linguistics perspectives.The thesis is not to analysis the causes from language itself but attempts to seek the causes that drive speakers to select certain language from language surroundings.I put emphasis on the seeking of the specific factors that impact the selection to speak certain language in Guangxi.i.e the society , history and local cultural factors outside language, including political factors , economical factors , cultural factors in a narrow sense.My conclusions are as followsrpolitical rules make Mandarin widely used and become the powerful language;economical factors are the most principal cause that make Cantonese become the powerful languagejmarket economy speed up people's mobility to go from place to place and go together in cities and bring people to change their ideas and urge the people that speak different languages to come into contact and interflow and give a chance to popularize common language .The characteristic cultures held in an ethnical region or at one place maintain its ethnical language or dialect independent and existent for a long time. Interflowed culture and art activities promote the contact between nationalities and influence between national cultures.So bilingualism tends to appear and common language is easily promoted.The thesis has given full and accurate data and scientific conclusions.These data and conclusions have great value to draw up correct and practically feasible language planning and culture policy and correctively dispose of the relations between nationalities and a series of practical problems in works of national languages.
